Join WORDS TO GO for a celebration of our third anniversary online — downloaded over 17,000 times in 35 countries! Carole digs in to a triple-decker feast of writing: Melanie Dugan's modern take on the ancient myth of the four seasons; Gerard Beirne's beautiful meditative poetry and David Koulack's funny yet poignant story of a mother and son's impossible tug-of-war. Published prose, poetry and essays welcome. For submission guidelines, check out Podcasts at http://www.carolegiangrande.com. |

Join us as WORDS TO GO ferries its way across a wilderness lake in the Rockies with author Wade Bell. Today's featured story, "Mountains and Rivers and an Arctic Sea" takes us inside the imagination of a nine year-old boy as he accompanies his dad on a tourist boat in the wilderness. His world includes extraordinary beauty, real and imagined — moose, bears, mountain ranges, fearful icebergs, hidden spirits and the haunting music of a violin. Whatever you imagine as a writer, we always welcome your published prose and poetry. Submission guidelines at http://www.carolegiangrande.com/podcasts.giangrande-html |

Fall's just about here — the season for brand-new books and, hopefully, the time to read them. Don't have the time? You've come to the right place...join us for WORDS TO GO's mini-book launch as Carole reads from Eva Tihanyi's new poetry collection Flying Underwater, and Susan Glickman's latest novel, The Tale Teller, a gender-bender setting sail for eighteenth-century New France. Wherever you're sailing, you're in good company — and we'd love to read your published stories, poetry, essays and novel excerpts. As summer slowly winds down, the living may be easy at WORDS TO GO, but the writing will make you sit up and listen! Carole's back from a summer break with a beautiful poem by Marilyn Gear Pilling called "That Father," followed by Kevin Couture's award-winning short story, "How To Rescue A Bear Cub." (A cottager's nightmare, but a subtle and moving sketch). The two works are reflections - direct and indirect - on the quality of our parents, both human and ursine. Whatever your reflections, we love to read your published prose and poetry on air. Check out guidelines for submission under "podcasts" at www.carolegiangrande.com. |

It's been a very busy season, and try as I might, I haven't found time to produce a June episode of WORDS TO GO. Now I'm ready for a much-needed summer break. I'll be away for the month of July, and I hope that by mid-August, I'll be back reading and sorting through some of the best in prose and poetry for a new podcast season. Meanwhile, please continue to submit your published work, and check out the guidelines at www.carolegiangrande.com. Have a great summer!

Fasten your seat belts and hop right in to the clunker edition of WORDS TO GO, where a rusty heap on four wheels chugs down the road less travelled. If you drive - and even if you don't - witty adventures await as Carole reads from Thomas Sullivan's account of a nightmare year as a Drivers' Ed instructor. If you're driving right now, keep your eyes on the road and submit your fiction, essays, poetry and novel excerpts later! For guidelines, go to Carole's website at http://www.carolegiangrande.com/podcasts-giangrande.html |

It's spring at WORDS TO GO and for those of you looking forward to summer vacations, don't let today's feature story fool you. It's called "Travel Plans," but Carole warns that this weird assortment of self-indulgent celebrity hounds may be going nowhere fast. Even so, Winnipeg writer David Koulack keeps their pretentions moving right along with droll wit and keen observation. We love choice words at WORDS TO GO — if you're a writer, send us your best published prose and poetry, fiction or non. Welcome to WORDS TO GO Podcast #40! Curl up close to your computer/MP3 player, and listen up as Carole intros an outstanding new talent, Paulo da Costa from Portugal via the west coast of Canada. And if there's still a chill in the air where you are, his story set in the heat of Angola will warm you up with its rich language and powerful characters. Carole dedicates this podcast to an old literary friend and gentleman of the writer's world, a wonderful agent and mentor who's left us. Whatever part of the world you hail from, we're always keen to read your published prose and poetry, fiction and "non" on air. Check out guidelines for submission at www.carolegiangrande.com. |

Welcome to our podcast of WORDS TO GO, where Carole's bundled up some fine poetry and prose to warm you on these gray, late-winter days. In the sartorial department, poet and novelist Susan Glickman muses on the wonders of sneakers flying high, stray gentlemen's shoes and hats that can't keep a straight face! And the strands of memory weave together in an essay by Patricia Schultheis on a childhood memory jarred loose by a stopped car and a feared word spoken on the radio. Poetry or prose, Carole loves reading your published words on air. Check our submission guidelines at www.carolegiangrande.com/podcasts-giangrande.html |

Welcome to our first podcast of the new year, and while the weather outside is bone-chilling, here at our WORDS TO GO studio, we always keep the kettle on and the fireplace crackling. So make yourself at home! Today Carole's given over the show to a remarkable piece of writing — Meredith Andrew's surreal and thoughtful reflection on the world of 9/11 and after. This inventive story made it into the prestigious Bridport Prize Anthology (2004), published in the U.K. Whether or not you've won a prize, we love reading your published work. Send us your short fiction, poetry, essays or novel excerpts. For submission guidelines, go to http://www.carolegiangrande.com/podcasts-giangrande.html |
